Ridgeline, a cloud-native investment management platform, has raised $250 million in a Series E round that values the company at $1.425 billion. The round was led by founder and chairman Dave Duffield, with participation from Motley Fool Ventures, affiliates of Smead Capital Management, and Patrick O'Shaughnessy, CEO of Positive Sum. Motley Fool Ventures and Smead Capital Management are both Ridgeline clients, putting customer capital behind the round alongside the traditional investors.
Ridgeline's platform unifies trading, portfolio accounting, compliance, reporting, and client servicing into a single system, replacing the six to nine legacy applications many firms currently stitch together, with AI built in to automate portions of that workflow. The company counts asset managers, wealth managers, and registered investment advisors overseeing a combined $750 billion in assets among its customers.
Ridgeline said the new capital will expand its AI capabilities, broaden its managed services offering, and support entry into Canada and Europe. CEO Dave Blair said a unified platform paired with AI that can safely perform the work lets firms grow assets and serve more clients without a proportional rise in costs. For advisors and platforms watching the space, having existing customers write checks alongside venture investors is a notable vote of confidence in the product.
MMnote: The round includes a group of customers which is even more validation than they could bring only as customers. Bravo! Link to Press Release
