Founder Adam Waaramaa announced the public launch of Appleseed Planner, a free financial planning platform now modeling more than $33 billion in assets across 11,000 users, after leaving his role as a Group Product Manager at Google.
The platform began as a weekend project to help Waaramaa's wife determine whether she could safely leave her job, after he found existing tools either overly simplistic or too dependent on manual inputs.
Appleseed runs an advisor-grade Monte Carlo simulator that automates life-event modeling, including housing costs after a move, college tuition, the private healthcare gap before Medicare, vehicle replacement cycles, and an "Adaptive Spending" feature for market downturns.
A free "Spouse Share" mode lets couples review a plan together, while the paid Appleseed Pro tier adds live Plaid account syncing for users and spouses, a Roth conversion optimizer, and raw CSV exports for AI analysis.
Appleseed Pro also includes a "Parent Admin" mode for building and managing plans for aging parents, with Medicare and elder care estimates and a view-only summary for the parents.
The tool spread through internal channels at Google and then to employees at Meta, NVIDIA, and Amazon, with an average of $3 million in assets modeled per user.
Users can stress-test plans in one click against scenarios such as an AI-driven layoff or a dot-com-style crash.
